How Bible Quizzing Began in Nigeria
The journey of Bible quizzing in Nigeria began with a simple scroll. One day, while browsing Facebook, I stumbled upon a CQA video about Bible quizzing, posted by Ambassador Baptist Church. I was immediately captivated by the energy, the knowledge, and the passion of the young people engaging with the Word of God. It ignited a fire in my heart.
This fire was not one of laziness; it was a fire of determination, driving me to take action rather than succumb to apathy. I started praying, asking God to open doors for this vision. I reached out to a friend at Ambassador Baptist Church in America, sharing my desire to introduce Bible quizzing in my own church.
God used him to connect me with the right individuals. He linked me to a person leading Bible quizzing programs, and shortly after, I received a call from him. That call led to another connection — this time with the quizzing president in Cameroon, Godwill Penn. We had an extensive conversation, sharing our hearts and our mutual passion for engaging young people with the Bible. We prayed together, seeking God's guidance to facilitate his journey to Nigeria to help us get started. Though we had no clear plan, we trusted that God would provide.
I then prepared for this initiative by gathering experienced individuals to help me; these included Samuel Amachree, Madam Ubie and her husband, Mrs. Imeh Chioma, and Mrs. Obibisom. I shared my vision with them, and with God's help, they agreed to join me.
As I prayed, I held onto Scripture, reminding myself that I can do all things through Christ, and that if I ask, it will be given; if I seek, I will find; and if I knock, the door will be opened to me. I believed that if this endeavor were aligned with God's will, it would come to fruition — and it did.
God provided everything the president needed to travel from Cameroon to Nigeria. And with the help and approval of Missionary Maskey and Mrs. Maskey, we successfully hosted the first-ever Bible quizzing event at the Independent Baptist Church of Port Harcourt.
Looking back, I am amazed at how God used each one of us to turn this vision into reality. It all started with a simple scroll and a burning desire in my heart, and God orchestrated every detail. This experience is a testament to what God can do when we are willing to be used by Him. The journey has been incredible, and this is just the beginning of Bible quizzing in Nigeria.
